Happy Wednesday! Hope you are getting out on your bike, we are in prime time! Today we get to meet an experienced and passionate cyclist, our Co-VP Scott Sexsmith. Scott is always happy to share his experience with riders who are newer to the sport or looking to improve. His infectious enthusiasm for the sport has helped many a ride mate get up a steep climb or suffer through some gnarly gravel. Let’s hear a little bit more from him directly:
1.How many years have you been cycling?
I have been riding since my high school days when I thought a 30k ride was like riding the Tour de France. I started out on the road on a Fiori Modena that my dad bought for me. From there I started to ride and race mountain bikes and used road riding as a way to gain more fitness. After many years off the bike, I started to ride again in 1999.
2. What is a highlight from your years of cycling?
The friendships I have made through cycling is the number 1 highlight for me.
3. What do you like best about being part of this Cycling Club?
I like the fact that a few like-minded individuals can help transform this club into the best it can be.
4. Any goals for the 2020 Cycling Season?
My main goal is to ride 200k, something I’ve come close to but never accomplished. My other goal is simply to have fun and enjoy the ride (no pun intended) 🙂
5. Roadie or Off Roadie?
Both, but mostly Roadie.
6. Are you Team Short Socks or Team High Socks?
I love the high socks, but with short legs I usually wear a mid-length sock.
7. Espresso or Americano?
Neither. Just a good old iced coffee gets me going. Oh, and wine gums as well!
8. What club rides can we find you on?
Almost all the club road rides (Monday Night Skills, Wednesday Group Road Rides) and our Dirty Thursday gravel rides.
Thanks for sharing a bit about yourself today Scott! See you out on the road!
