Dear Cobourg Cycling Club Member,
As our season winds down, the Cobourg Cycling Club is pleased to announce the running of the Presqu’ile Pursuit on Sunday, Oct 1st in Presqu’ile Provincial Park, Brighton.
This event follows the structure of an Australian Pursuit bicycle race covering 3-5 or 6 laps (depending on handicap) of 6.6 Km each within the parks inner loop. This format allows a handicap for all riders based on ability or current season Time Trial results giving all participants an equal chance of success. The faster the rider, the later they depart the start line. First person to cross the finish line after the set distance wins!
For those not inclined to race join us for lunch and ride the beautiful waterfront circuit at Presqu’ile (before and after the Pursuit) at your own pace. Members of neighbouring clubs are welcome to join us for the non-competitive portion of this event in order to see what the CCC is about and to promote future membership initiatives. Invite your cycling friends, bring you families, come out and enjoy the park.
For 2017 the club will again make use of the enclosed Picnic facility on the inner loop of the park. A BBQ lunch will be provided for racers. Additional meals can be purchased for family and friends.
The “Pursuit” will take place between 11:00 and 1:30pm. Pre-registration is required so that our timekeepers can apply an appropriate handicap. If you are racing, please arrive no later than 10:00AM to check in and warm up. The BBQ will follow immediately after the race. Leisure cycling is encouraged outside of Pursuit timings. Bring your family and ride one of the most scenic venues in Northumberland County. We simply ask that you remain clear of the course during the actual event in order to allow racers a clear road.
Leave your TT bikes at home! Due to the nature of this event, a road bike is necessary as you will be riding in close proximity of others. Speedy helmets, booties, wheels etc. are at your discretion. We won’t judge
Cost and Registration
Participant fee is $15 and includes lunch. Additional meals will be $7. Funds will be collected on race day. Please bring cash and exact change if possible.
Please pre-register no later than Wednesday Sept 28th by emailing email@example.com Don’t forget to include additional lunch requirements for family / friends to assist in our planning.
We will proceed rain or shine! The enclosed picnic facility offers ample enclosed space for our social event if the weather doesn’t cooperate.
Trophies will be awarded to Cobourg Cycling Club members only. Huge Bragging rights, smiles and pats on the back will be awarded to Non-club participants.
