2013 Season Kicks Off Tuesday, April 9th

It’s been a long and grueling winter but spring has finally sprung and the start of an exciting 2013 season with the Cobourg Cycling Club is fast approaching!

The month of April is full of scheduled rides so don’t miss out and be sure to visit our JOIN page, download the membership application and waiver and mail them in so you’re all signed up and ready to roll for April 9th. To stay on schedule, there will be no day-of member sign up for the Tuesday Night Time Trial series. You must hand in your application/waiver/payment prior to attending your first race.

Here’s a snippet of what the early season has to offer but please check out our RIDES Page where we have dates and descriptions of all the rides we’re offering for 2013.

Tuesday, April 9th
Individual Time Trial race series begins where you can test yourself against the clock along a 15km out-and-back course that takes you East along Lakeshore road. Racing begins at 6:30pm at the corner of King St. East and Normar Rd MAP but please make sure you show up 20 minutes early to pay your $2.00 and get signed in. For you regular racers there is now the option of paying a $35 flat fee that covers you for every Tuesday Night TT for 2013.

Thursday, April 18th (trail conditions permitting)
Tune up the mountain bikes and get some mud on the tires by joining us for the first Dirty Thursday mountain bike group ride of 2013. We leave the Beagle Club rd parking lot MAP at 6:30pm sharp so be geared up and ready to go early!

Sunday, April 21st
Leaving from the Baltimore Rec Centre MAP at 11am we’ll head for the back roads for the 1st Gravel Road ride of the season. We strongly recommend bringing your mountain or cyclocross bikes for this as we’ll be hitting up some of the best back roads and access roads Northumberland has to offer. You can view the route map HERE

Thursday, April 25th
For the first Tempo Ride of the year we’ll keep things relaxed and reduce the pace while we all re-acquaint ourselves with riding in a pace line and keep the focus on safety and proper technique. If there is enough interest in this style of ride we’ll split into A and B groups based on skill and ability. We leave from Merwin Greer School MAP at 6:15pm and will be following this route. If daylight is a factor, we may have to cut the route short but that will be up to the ride leader.

Thursday, May 2nd
Join us for a Social Spin leaving Merwin Greer School MAP at 6:30pm. We’ll cruise through Cobourg and surrounding area at an easy pace and make frequent stops to see the sights and take it all in.

We hope to see you all out for these rides and everything else we’ve got planned for 2013, it’s going to be a great year of cycling with the CCC!
